Teaching fellowships: Full-time M.A. and Ph.D. students in English at Lehigh are fully funded through teaching fellowships. Teaching fellowships include tuition remission and a competitive stipend, which in academic year 2024-2025 is approximately $27,070. Teaching fellows typically take graduate coursework while also teaching one section of First-year writing per semester.
We typically do not admit full-time graduate students without also offering financial support. Decisions about teaching fellowships are made at the same time as regular admissions decisions, and applicants simply have to check the box in the application form to request financial aid. Applicants to our English graduate program are automatically considered for teaching fellowships.
International applicants are eligible to receive teaching fellowships, just as domestic students are.
Full-time graduate students are eligible for discounted health insurance through Lehigh University; this is optional, and students who have health insurance through other sources do not need to register for health insurance.
For students interested in part-time enrollment, there are a number of different options available. One common option for part-time students who are full-time teachers in local secondary schools is to take afternoon and evening courses at a discounted educator’s rate.
