Professor Fifer is the author of Rescued Readings: A Reconstruction of Gertrude Stein's Difficult Texts (1992). Recently, she has been writing on contemporary American family drama and on topics in world literature. She has published her most recent essay, "Moral Ambiguity in the Aftermath of Blacklisting: Jeffrey Sweet's The Value of Names," in The International Journal of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Vol. 9, Issue 1. She is now studying the figure of Scheherazade in contemporary Arab women's fiction, drama, and poetry.
