Sara Monahan received her Ph.D. from Lehigh University in 2019. Her dissertation, “Native Bodily Authority and Textual Authority in Nineteenth Century American Literature,” focuses on how representations of the human body as a text can challenge the traditional sources of racial and gendered authority in America, particularly among Native communities. Her poetry has appeared in Poet Lore, Crazyhorse, and North Dakota Quarterly, among other journals. She holds an M.A. from the College of New Jersey, an M.F.A from Eastern Washington University, and a B.F.A. from New York University.
