Heather Flyte

Heather received her B.A. and M.A. in English literature from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. She has worked in web development, marketing, graphic design, and publishing. She spent three years working in KU's Writing Center and enjoys working one-on-one with students and their writing. After discovering an old anthology of Japanese fairy tales, she wrote her thesis, "Demons, Devourers, and Demigods: The Dialogue of Victorian Imperialism in the Translation of Japanese Fairy Tales," to investigate how Victorian writers and scholars translated these stories for a British audience. Heather is interested in pursuing more research on the transformation of folk tales into children's stories, as well as Victorian pulp publishing, print culture, early science fiction, and popular culture.
